Secrets to Success

Educate Yourself
Before you invest a single penny in a windshield repair business opportunity, do your homework. Is there a demand for the service in your area? Are there enough people driving cars and getting stone damages to support a business repairing them? If you determine the demand exists, start thinking about where to get the tools and training you'll need. When choosing a supplier, find out if they actually have experience doing repairs or just experience selling tools? Most importantly, do they have a proven marketing plan to generate retail customers looking for your service, or do they suggest traditional but ineffective practices like calling on used car dealers, fleet accounts and insurance referrals? Does their business plan for you consist of getting up every morning wondering where (or even if) you'll find work that day? What specifically do they provide to make you successful when so many others fail?

Use Common Sense
Too often salespeople will only tell you what you want to hear, they do that to make a sale. Do you really believe any salesperson that says it's "simple" and "easy" to make money? Do you really believe him when he says his company's products are the best? Doesn't every salesperson say that? Is he just trying to find the quickest way to your credit card, or is he willing to explain things to you, completely and honestly answer your questions and otherwise take the time to genuinely help you?

Invest Wisely
Choosing your supplier is a very important decision,so important it alone may determine the success or failure of your business. The most common question I am asked is "how many repairs can I do with the resin that comes with the kit?" That assumes all windshield repair kits can do quality repairs, and that getting the best "value" means getting the one that can do the most repairs with the supplies included. The reality is most kits are limited in the types of repairs they can do and only provide short term substandard repairs at best. Find out if the kit can repair all types of damage? Will it produce quality repairs that will be strong enough and permanent so that you can give customers a lifetime guarantee? Remember that you're not buying a bag of marbles, you're investing in a business that must provide a secure income for you, one that will determine your future. So be sure that you make the right choice. Don't go bargain hunting or looking for the easiest arrangement. Giving a salesperson your credit card number and getting a box of "tools" along with a video in the mail is not a guarantee of success. A couple months later you'll be selling your windshield repair kit on Ebay hoping to minimize your loss. No one wants to throw their hard earned money away, but that's exactly what happens when you fail to invest wisely.

Don't Plan to Fail
When I hear a person say "I'm not sure this is going to work, or I just want to try my hand at this" failure is almost guaranteed. Do your research and decide if windshield repair is the business opportunity you're looking for. If you don't think so, don't waste one penny of your money on it, move on to something else. On the other hand, if it is, then make a serious commitment to succeed by obtaining the best tools, training and marketing support available. Every successful business owner has several things in common: a positive attitude, the determination to succeed and the right tools for the job.
