Bill2.jpg (13417 bytes)I’m William Penrod, owner of U.S. Windshield Repair. I think you should know a little about the company you may be placing your trust in, so allow me to share our history with you. I started my business seventeen years ago for the same reasons that motivate you today, personal freedom and financial security. At that point in my life I had already worked at a number of jobs from grocery store manager, deputy sheriff , property manager in a resort, to sales. No matter how enjoyable each job was when I started, I always grew tired working for others. I needed to make a change. So I decided to start my own business, making my own decisions, being my own boss, taking control of my future.

While researching the options for self-employment in magazines and at business expos, I became aware of windshield repair. The more I learned about it, the more I was convinced it was the ideal opportunity for me, so next came the process of choosing the best company to help me start my business.  After going over all the sales literature many times, watching the videos and talking to the salespeople, I made my decision, spent my money and took that exciting first step towards self employment. A couple days later, tools in hand and training under my belt, I hit the streets. From the very beginning it was a struggle. I quickly found there's a big difference between the theory of making money and the reality of doing it. It was obvious to me that the tools, training and especially the marketing strategy I was using all needed improvement if I was going to succeed.

I had always been good at gunsmithing since shooting was my main hobby, so I used those skills to design and make my own equipment that was more effective, able to do more difficult repairs and yet easier to use. I worked with chemical companies to develop better resins.  Using my new tools and resins, my finished repairs were looking better. More importantly, they were no longer failing like they did with the system I had bought.  I was making more money by doing many repairs other technicians had already turned down as too difficult. Using my previous job experience and through trial and error, I also discovered how to properly and effectively market my business to bring me retail customers that paid over twice as much as my former wholesale accounts. With all the other windshield repair technicians focusing on wholesale accounts and insurance referrals, I had no competition so I didn't have to spend most of my time looking for work, I could spend it making money. I really knew I was on the right track when other windshield repair technicians started asking me for help and where they could get tools like mine. As interest grew, I began to provide tools and training to others.

During my seventeen years in this industry, I've seen a majority of windshield repair businesses fail. Those failures were not due to a lack of effort but because they either couldn't do quality work or they couldn't find enough work to provide an income . Currently, two thirds of our customers are technicians that come to us for help after buying other repair systems.

Our network of technicians set a higher standard for quality and professionalism in the industry.  As a former charter member of the National Windshield Repair Association and current member of the National Glass Association, I am personally committed to the ongoing improvement and success of our industry.

Sincerely,

_______
